No joy again yesterday - we had some slim hope of the race being declared void after the stalls opened early on the winner but even the stewards couldn't come to our rescue after a fairly lengthy enquiry.

We are at Newcastle for the HorseGraph today in the William Hill Spring Mile Handicap where 19 runners go to post - Trafalgar Square is a non runner.

The top-rating goes to Resplendent Nova in the hope that he can end a run of five second places by going one better in this competitive event. The handicapper has certainly gven him a chance - dropping him four pounds since his latest run and he seems equally at home on turf and all-weather. The current Betdaq odds of 12 look very fair indeed.

Daaweitza at the bottom of the handicap is second rated and trading at 30 - he has a lengthy absence to overcome but was an improving horse last season and twice ran well here at Newcastle. His stablemate Fort Churchill is the rank outsider of the whole field but should run better than the current odds of 80 suggest.

Speagle is another outsider we like - he will improve for being dropped back in distance while the current 4.3 favourite Dichoh sneaks above the line and is the ideal 'cover' bet.

Friday 30 March

We're going through a poor patch at the moment and yesterday's results summed things up - a non runner, a faller and an all but unseated rider in the 3.40 at Hereford meant we were effectively left with just a 33-1 runner in the race.

At least we'll know our fate early today. The HorseGraph is in the first race of the day - the 2.00 at Wolverhampton. The early morning betting on Betdaq is dominated by Takitwo and although he features prominently is by no means as clear as his odds suggest. We'll have to accept a loss if he wins and go for the profit on the other 'above the line' horses.

What Do You Know and Kew The Music are both credible alternatives to the favourite - being tough consistent performers at this level whilst Supercast and Sedge are trading at good enough odds to tempt us in.

Strictly on the formbook Takitwo who beat What Do You Know by half a length last time out at Kempton should confirm that form but William Buick takes over from Nicol Polli on What Do You Know which could well be enough to swing the tables.

No luck again I'm afraid on Wednesday when Lorient Express, for my money, didn't seem to show any battling qualities.

We fared better on the Premium HorseGraph service with a profit on the day of 9.3 points on the recommended bets of:

2.5 points win Nation State
1.5 points win Treasury Counsel
1 point win Star Shot
0.5 points each way Corker

Treasury Counsel won and was 7.2 at the off with Corker - finishing second at big odds.

Let's try and the show back on the road at Hereford today where there are three clear bets in the 3.40 race.

The bets include the favourite Rebelle (around 3.2 at the moment on Betdaq). Peter Bowen's stable are in amazing form with seven winners from their last 18 runners, and Rebelle comes here in great form and importantly should also be able to handle the good to firm ground.

Rydal Park is the narrow top-rated and is trading around 14. He is making his handicap debut and although his form figures aren't too inspiring, he has shown a hint of ability in better class races than this one.

Frosty Run also gets a good rating and is a previous winner on good to firm ground. Those are the three main bets but complete outsider You'vegotmerocking just creeps above the line so we will include this one.

Pretty much a disaster day at Sedgefield yesterday with a telescope rather than binoculars needed to spot our runners. The premium service fared better with the top-rated Came Back winning at Wolverhampton for a profit on the day of 2.4 points.

Well, we always like a challenge so today's 1000 piece jigsaw is the 18 runner handicap hurdle at Towcester. As usual there is a mix of fancied runners and outsiders 'above the line'.

Marine Life and Lorient Express are the 'Canary Wharfs' of today's graph - towering above their rivals. They are at quite different prices too. Lorient Express is the solid favourite at around 3.6 and Marine Life around 17.

Marine Life has ability but also looks quirky. He ran no sort of race last time at Fakenham when pulling up but previously won at Catterick and makes his handicap debut here.

Gin Palace is interesting back on better ground - you have to go back a couple of years but the form of his third to Korelo at Sandown reads smartly in the context of this race and he has been given a huge chance by the handicapper. He has also been nibbled at in the market this morning being matched as high as 62 on Betdaq.

Felix Rex, Oops and Bill Brown are also included at good odds.

Disappointing day at Kempton yesterday with just a place return on Party Palace - the other main selections all failing to get competitive.

The Premium HorseGraph service found 17.5/1 (14/1 SP) winner Herne Bay at Stratford to give followers of that service a profit of 4.25 points on the day.

We are at Sedgefield this afternoon for the 2.50 race where number 15 Real Chief is now a non runner.

The narrow top-rated is the Nicky Richards' trained Big Wheel - who undoubtedly has the ability to win this race off this mark but - and it's a big but - he has been off the course for 482 days and at the age of 12 is making his reappearance here.

Prairie Law, Danteco and Nero West are currently trading at around 30+ on Betdaq but get good ratings.

Bluecoat and and Seafire Lad have slightly more obvious chances but are both around 9 - so it's going to be a day of following bigger priced runners.

Monday 26 March

For the second day running, a small profit on both the original and premium HorseGraph services on Sunday.

Daddy Cool made all the running to win the final race at Kempton. We had 1.5 points on to win and ended up making a profit of one guinea on the day !!! 1.05 points. He was trading at much bigger odds in the morning and came in for strong support close to the off.

We're back at Kempton today for the 4.40 race.  Clewer is the top-rated and expected to be good odds on Betdaq. Paul Blockley is enjoying a purple patch with 4 winners from his last 11 runners and Clewer, who is making her seasonal reppearance, is recommended each-way in this contest. She performed with some credit as a two-year-old and gets her first stab at a longer trip today.

Party Palace also gets a good rating on the graph - she has proved a frustrating sort so far and again the advice is to support her on an each-way basis. She has been dropped 4lb by the handicapper which gives her a big chance.

Jemima Godfrey has proven form over this distance and that factor alone is a strong positive in the race while Deep Cover has been given a squeak by the handicapper but is still an extremely speculative selection.

Sunday 25 March

A small profit on the original and premium services on Saturday which steadied the ship a little after the last couple of days.

Hinton Admiral was our Saturday winner to give a modest 1/2 point profit on the day. It would have been more but the winner was subject to quite a big gamble close to the off.

Temtation is the narrow top-rated with up and coming William Buick onboard. She is currently trading at around 6.6 on Betdaq and was a close second at Wolverhampton last time.

Sohraab and Daddy Cool complete today's bet - they are currently at respective odds of 2.22 and 6.6 so it's a case of looking to both Daddy Cool and Temtation for a profit and a break even should the favourite win

Saturday 24 March

We head to Lingfield this afternoon for the Spring Cup, a listed race, where there are now 13 runners as Cav Okay is a non-runner.

No surprises to see that it's tight at the top - it's a competitive race for a big prize.

The top-rated is Hurricane Spirit - the current 4.40 favourite on Betdaq. The John Best trained runner was unbeaten on the all-weather before being beaten over six furlongs last time when conditions were not in his favour. This is more his distance and he remains a horse with great potential. The stable won the same race last year with Sunny King.

We're interested in four others Hinton Admiral (7.5), Aahayson (130), Cesc (25) and Fares (46). As you can see from the latest Betdaq prices in brackets there are one or two speculative selections there !!

Hinton Admiral is from Mark Johnston's in-form yard and won a listed event over six furlongs here last time and is one very much to keep on the right side of. Cesc is improving at a rapid rate, has Seb Sanders onboard and the stable is in form. The Racing Post betting forecast of 14/1 was much more indicative of his chances and we'll take a chance at nearly double those odds. The same pretty much goes for Fares who was forecast at 16/1 - he has an entry for the 2,000 Guineas but is trained by eternal optimist Clive Brittain !

Aahayson is getting into the realms of the ridiculous but proved a tough performer as a two-year-old and we'll have a small bet on the place market. He needs to improve but comes from a stable where big priced places are not uncommon.

March results

Please find below the first set of results for HorseGraphs.com which covers the period from 1 March to date. As you can see, despite the last couple of days proving disappointing, we have enjoyed a terrific month with a current profit of 86 points.

Several readers have requested the results archive and I hope to update this as soon as possible with the figures from January and February with regular updates too on the new premium service. Please get in touch if you have any comments about the format / presentation of the data. It's on a database so fairly easy to change if the format below can be improved.

Please also note there is now a results button on the left hand side. Prices are the Betdaq back prices in the last five minutes of trading. Obviously there will be cases when punters have obtained better/worse prices with market fluctuations - but for the purposes of consistency I feel this is the most accurate figure to report.

On my own trading I tend to bet as late as possible as I feel generally increased liquidity brings a more stable and punter friendly market. Although there have been several examples this month when I sihed I had placed the bets at 10am in the morning !!

Friday 23 March

No luck on Thursday I'm afraid - the top-rated Little Bob was second but comprehensively beaten by Shares.

I had to do a double take when seeing the output from Friday's HorseGraph - Dark Planet - the complete outsider of the whole field on Betdaq gets the top-rating. You have to ignore his last two races on the basis that the two mile trip was too far at Wolverhampton last time and before that he unseated his rider at the very first flight in a race at Ludlow. However, before that he showed he has ability with some encouraging runs on the all-weather and was a winner at Beverley. The handicapper has given him a real chance in this contest.

The favourite Hallings Overture is rated close behind and is in good current form - this looks more his distance than the 10 furlongs he raced over last time.

King After seldom runs a bad race here at Lingfield and completes today's bet. He should go off at good odds.
